Marri Timber Flooring

Marri ( Eucalyptus Calophylla ) or commonly known as Red Gum, is also unique to the South West of Australia, generally used for woodchipping, but the last ten years it has become more and more popular for flooring and furniture because of its artistic features such as its extensive bloodwood gum veins and imperfections.

Marri is a light colour ranging from pale yellow to honey light brown and reddish brown with interesting grain patterns, comes in a Select Grade or Feature Grade and sizes are 105mmx12mm and 80mmx12mm, marri.jpgwith a tongue & groove profile, in random length packs

Select Grade contains few faults and then normally only minor defects it naturally follows, inherent in the species, overall hue is even and knot free. Therefore this grade is charged at a more expensive rate than feature grade.

Feature Grade contains visible grain patterns & appearances occuring naturally in the timber, such as gum veins , which gives its character and natural beauty and warmth. Feature is the most popular choice of new home builders due to its beauty, character and rustic nature and its ability to become a show piece or talking point in the decor of the home. Therefore it also happens to be the lowest cost of the grades - a big bonus to the home builders and designers.
